About

My name is Konstantinos (Kostas) Stefanidis, and I am a Full Professor of Data Science at the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences (ITC), Tampere University, Finland. I serve as Director of the Data Science Research Centre and lead the Group on Recommender Systems. I have more than 10 years of experience in different research and academic roles at ICS-FORTH in Greece, NTNU in Norway, and CUHK in Hong Kong. I earned my PhD in personalized data management from the University of Ioannina, Greece. My research lies in the broader area of big data, with a focus on personalization and recommender systems, data integration, data exploration, and data analytics. More recently, I have been addressing socio-technical aspects of data management, such as fairness and transparency. My work has been published in over 100 papers in top-tier conferences and journals. I have been actively involved in numerous international and national research projects and continue to serve the scientific community. Currently, I am General Co-Chair of EDBT/ICDT 2026, ADBIS 2025, and TPDL 2025.
