RESEARCH AREAS

My research focuses on professional growth and learning across higher education, vocational education, and working life. Over more than two decades, I have published over 150 peer-reviewed works on workplace learning, competence development, vocational and professional education, and higher and engineering education. In recent years, my research has increasingly examined how motivation, basic psychological needs, emotions, and well-being shape learning and professional development, as well as how these processes unfold in digitalised, hybrid, and changing work and learning environments. Methodologically, my work combines longitudinal and experience-sampling designs with self-report and psychophysiological measures to study learning and development as dynamic processes situated in real-world contexts.
